East Sac Post-War

Originally the client’s grandparents’ home, the  1300-square-foot house built in 1949, got a whole-house refresh without changing the existing footprint. They entrusted us to preserve the charm and relevance to the post-war neighborhood, while integrating modern design elements and updating finishes throughout.

Kitchen

In the redesign of the kitchen, we aimed to achieve a modern yet vintage-inspired look that felt appropriate to the era of the home. Despite the narrow space, we created a sense of openness and increased the natural light by removing the wall between the kitchen and laundry room.

Integrated appliances blend with the cabinets, and sleek edge pulls help make the kitchen look and feel more steamlined.

We utilized the area by the back door by narrowing the cabinet depth to allow for more storage. Mixing open shelving and closed cabinetry mixes function with a more airy, open feel

DINING ROOM

The doorway was widened into the kitchen created a stronger connection to the dining room without sacrificing cabinet space. We added drama by painting the walls a deep wine color and continued it on to the custom arched wall-to-wall cabinetry.

PRIMARY BATH

In the main bathroom, we prioritized functionality and quality materials to make the most of the limited space. Despite the size constraint challenges, we were able to give the clients a separate soaking tub and shower to meet their wishlist.

To optimize storage, we incorporated built-in niches and shelves, in every space we could.

To optimize storage, we incorporated built-in niches and shelves, and even found space to add a full-height wall cabinet.

POWDER BATH

This narrow powder room was added in the third bedroom and we wanted to have fun with it. We accomplished this with a bold geometric wallpaper offset by a bright orange wall-mounted sink.
